Hello.
My name is Leon Seaman. I am a college Bible Teacher and a Worship
Leader. I have found the term, Artful Word, appropriate to describe the Scriptures, and especially the kind of
carefully crafted stories we find in them—stories
that have shaped and nurtured many generations of believers round the world.
The term can also apply to how we creatively present that word in teaching,
worship and liturgy.
I
earned a Master of Arts in Religion from Emmanuel School of Religion, Johnson
City, Tennessee, in 2004. My thesis was a narrative reading of Mark's
Gospel. I taught New Testament and Greek at Puget Sound Christian College,
Everett, Washington, from 2004 to 2006, and have, for many years, planned, coordinated and led worship for congregations in the Southeast, the Rocky Mountain
region, and the Pacific Northwest. I lead with semi-acoustic guitar and
voice, either alone or with a worship team.
Born and brought up in England,
I immigrated to this country in 1976, and have lived mostly in the Rocky
Mountain States and Seattle, but also in the Southeast. I became a
Christian in Durango, Colorado, in 1980, in the tradition of the Christian
Churches and Churches of Christ, often known today as the Stone-Campbell
Movement, which originated on the early nineteenth century frontier of the
United States. This movement combines elements of the catholic and free
church traditions, and, at its origins, sought to be "not the only Christians,
but Christians only." In that spirit I have worked and worshiped
with several denominations, but ultimately hearken back to—and try to draw
from—our common biblical and early church tradition.
